Angie Coleman's Art Gallery
[Angie Coleman] - [Art Gallery] - [Thursday 10th, January 2008]
was born in 1952 in Springfield, Missouri and grew up in San Diego, California.
I later moved with my family to Colorado where I
earned a B.A. in History at the University of Colorado at Boulder and then an M.A. in Library Science at Denver University.
as a librarian at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and at the Chesapeake Public Library across the Elizabeth River until I changed careers to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
come from a large artistic family .
father was a lithographer and three of my seven sisters are professional artists.
I am for the most part self-taught; I have
worked in watercolors and acrylics but I am currently working in oils. I draw my subjects from the things in life that I love.
My love of flowers motivated me to earn a Master Gardener certificate while I lived in Alabama, just so I could grow my own beautiful flowers, to bring to life in large, colorful and often bold tableaux. My love of dogs, which grew from my love for my two terriers (a Scottie and a Cairn) led to an interest in dog portraits, which I have done for family, friends, and now by commission from dog-lovers across the United States.
